The P2PU team have just come back from Chicago. And boy oh boy did we have fun…
We try to all meet up at least once a year, and 2015 was no different, so we decided to go to Chicago, since it’s a city we’ve come to love over the last few months. Our Learning Circles project with Chicago Public Library has been growing by leaps and bounds (more on that in another post) and we thought it would be good to head to the windy city so we could meet with more librarians, discuss our plans for the next round of Learning Circles, and finally meet some of our fantastic partners and colleagues face-to-face.
We had four intense days of work in the Harold Washington Library Centre (thanks to the staff who put up with us wandering around and eating, talking and generally misbehaving in the Library) and managed to cover a lot of ground, both organisational and related to the Learning Circles project. We spend a morning working with branch librarians to find out what they think should be the topics for Circles in their branches, signed up branches for the next round of courses, and got a special behind the scenes tour of the library.
We also ate well, met wonderful people, saw the city from the river, went up very tall buildings (and came down again) and decided that Chicago is a good place to be. Watch out, other cities. We’ll be headed for you soon.
